Amaro Obsession

Mombaruzzo AT

Last year at the 51st edition of Vinitaly, the Berta Family presented a novelty, the result of the passion for their distillery: the Amaro Riserva “Il 28 di Via San Nicolao”. “We have always loved amaro as a product and today our botanical garden, located in the park inside the distillery, allows us to select the essences we naturally grow and combine them with one of our most loved products”. Il 28 di Via San Nicolao, which takes its name from the street where the first family distillery was born as well as from the place where Chicco and Gianfranco Berta were born, uses as a basis the Casalotto 1986 brandy, to which they are added, respecting a secret recipe, a mix of sugar, flavorings, infusions and distillates of herbs and aromatic roots. From the warm and intense color, Il 28 di Via San Nicolao is characterized by an extraordinary hint of herbs including rhubarb, gentian and licorice. It remains in the mouth for a long time in an explosion of fruity notes among which predominate orange, peach and berries with hints of tobacco and vanilla. The amaro contains all the extraordinary elements that will undoubtedly make this precious product a new icon of the Casalotto di Mombaruzzo (AT) distillery. Founded in 1947, Distillerie Berta was the first to dedicate itself to the production of aged grappa, a tradition that continues today recording successes in markets around the world. For four generations the Berta Family has continued experimentation, using different combinations of woods and looking for a new product, without chasing the fashions of the moment. The distillery is also an ideal destination for those who want to enjoy a relaxing break among the ups and downs of Piedmont: Berta Distillery, in fact, also includes an 8-hectare botanical park, the grappa museum, a bakery that produces the typical amaretto of Mombaruzzo and Villa Castelletto, a resort combining stylishly furnished rooms and a restaurant that offers a modern twist to the flavors of the area. For those who want to indulge in an unforgettable sensory experience, the Berta Familyopens the doors of Villa Prato, a historic eighteenth-century house located in the heart of Mombaruzzo transformed into an exclusive relais de charme with six suites and 800 square meters wellness center where it is possible experiment with grappathotherapy treatments.
